About

 Ask anyone in the music biz about Joe Nevolo, and chances are they know someone who has worked with him at some point over the past two decades.   Joe is a a veteran musician who has played with more than 200 local, national, and international bands and recording artists including Frank Marino and Mahogany Rush, Shadow Gallery, Phantoms Opera, Greg Howe, Stephen Ross and Pat Travers.  Joe has been an audition finalist for top bands including Kiss, Bon Jovi and the E Street Band.  He has been featured in national/regional publications such as Modern Drummer Magazine, East Coast Rocker, and Creative Drummer Magazine.  Joe has studied with renowned drummers such as Carmine Appice, Joe Morello, Lenny White, and Sonny Igoe. Currently Joe plays with national act Jesse Kinch, winner of ABC's first ever "Rising Star" competition. 

    As well as being a freelance studio musician, Joe is currently the educational director for his own multifaceted teaching facility, Big Beat Music Studio in Neptune City, NJ.  The school houses over 25 teachers and has over 350 students.  At Big Beat Studio, Joe has implemented the use of high tech equipment and innovative instructional techniques devoted to the promotion of quicker learning and higher levels of enjoyment in each lesson.    Several of Joe's students have gone on to play with national acts.  A former student of Joe's is currently playing drums for Steven Tyler 's band.  One of his students won the World's Fastest Feet Competition and second place in the World's Fastest Hand Competition in July 2005 at the International Drumming Contest (WFD) and is now performing with Constantine Maroulis of American Idol and Broadway hit "Rock of Ages".   Joe has also been featured for his work with special needs students in Modern Drummer Magazine.

Teaching Style

Joe's vast knowledge of different styles and techniques of drumming gives him the ability to teach any style fluently, which his YouTube channel video's demonstrate.

Curriculum

Teaching methods vary depending on students wants, needs and abilities. This may include learning to read, improvisation, interpreting concepts, for younger students I have created an original method, that was featured in Modern Drummer,  that helps beginners to advance thoroughly and effectively through this program.
