About

Hello! My name is Joohyung Park, and I am a flutist based in New York City. I earned my Professional Studies Diploma from the Mannes School of Music and my Master’s degree from the Manhattan School of Music.

I have performed extensively as a soloist, chamber musician, and orchestral player. My performance experiences include appearing on WQXR Radio and performing at Carnegie Hall, as well as participating in masterclasses with world-renowned flutists, including Karl-Heinz Schütz.

I enjoy sharing my passion for music with students of all ages and levels—from beginners just starting their musical journey to advanced players preparing for auditions and competitions. My teaching focuses on helping students develop a beautiful sound, solid technique, and confidence in their musical expression.

Whether you are looking to prepare for auditions, strengthen your fundamentals, or simply enjoy playing the flute as a hobby, I would love to support you in reaching your musical goals!

Teaching Style

My teaching style is supportive, patient, and tailored to each student’s needs. I believe that every student learns differently, so I adjust my approach to help them feel comfortable and motivated.

For beginners, I focus on building a solid foundation—developing proper posture, breathing, and tone production—while keeping lessons fun and encouraging.

For intermediate and advanced students, I emphasize refining technique, musical interpretation, and performance skills, including audition and competition preparation.

I value open communication with my students and create a positive learning environment where they feel inspired to express themselves through music. My goal is not only to help students improve their flute playing, but also to share the joy and confidence that music can bring into their lives.

Curriculum

I use a flexible and student-centered teaching method, adapting lessons to meet each student’s level and goals. My approach combines technical exercises, tone development, and musical interpretation. I emphasize the importance of good fundamentals—such as breath control, embouchure, and posture—while also encouraging creativity and personal expression.
