Juan Miguel Luzón Catalán
About
Hi, I’m Juan Miguel, a music teacher from Spain with over 16 years of teaching experience. I teach acoustic guitar, electric guitar, ukulele, mandolin and practical music theory to students of different ages and levels.
My goal is to help students make real musical progress in a clear, structured, and enjoyable way. I work with complete beginners, intermediate players who feel stuck, and students who want to improve specific areas such as rhythm, chord changes, strumming, fingerstyle, technique, musical understanding, and confidence when playing songs.
I have extensive experience teaching online, and I always try to create lessons that are supportive, organised, and adapted to each student’s needs. Whether your goal is to build strong fundamentals, play with more fluency, understand music better, or simply enjoy learning in a consistent way, I will guide you step by step.
Lessons are available in both English and Spanish.
Teaching Style
My teaching style is clear, patient, and practical. I like to explain things in a simple way so that students not only copy what to do, but also understand what they are doing and why it works.
I adapt each lesson to the student’s level, pace, and goals. Some students need a strong foundation and step-by-step guidance, while others need help breaking through technical or musical limitations. In both cases, I try to make lessons encouraging, focused, and effective.
I value good communication, steady progress, and a positive learning environment. I want students to feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and improving gradually without feeling overwhelmed.
I also believe music lessons should stay connected to real music. That is why I often teach through songs, practical exercises, rhythm work, and musical application rather than isolated information.
Curriculum
My teaching method combines technical development, musical understanding, and practical application. Depending on the student, lessons may include work on posture, hand position, rhythm, chord transitions, strumming patterns, fingerstyle, scales, fretboard knowledge, ear training, and music theory explained in a practical way.
I usually organise lessons step by step, so students can build confidence and avoid confusion. I believe in creating strong foundations first and then expanding naturally into more musical freedom, expression, and control.
Whenever possible, I connect the material to songs and real playing situations. This helps students stay motivated while also developing useful skills that transfer directly to their instrument.
I can work with beginners, adult learners, hobby players, and students who want more structure in their practice. Students who are open to regular practice, careful listening, and gradual improvement usually make the best progress.
If needed, I can also recommend materials and exercises based on each student’s goals and level.
