Justin Heath

I've been performing and teaching guitar, banjo, and mandolin in the DC area and online since 2012. I play guitar and Banjo with the bluegrass band Cherry Blossom Special. In my own playing I've mostly pursued Bluegrass, classical and jazz but I love helping students reach their own goals regardless of style. One of the cool things about being a music teacher is finding out about artists I wouldn't have otherwise found. Music is everything to me and I'm really happy that I can make a living sharing music with others.

I like to customize my approach to where a student is in their playing and what their specific goals are. Some students respond well to a step-wise curriculum but others are on a more independent study type path and come to lessons with specific questions or ideas to improve and expand on whatever they are working on. I place an emphasis on foundations in technique, musicianship, and theory along with repertoire. I also love to teach improvisation and arranging
