About

Kade Bennett is currently a master’s student at University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music studying under Grammy award winning baritone Elliot Madore. Upcoming at CCM Kade will be singing Demitrius in Benjamin Britten’s “A Midsummer Night’s Dream”. Other notable roles of his include Marcello and Schaunard in "La Bohème" at the Mediterranean Opera Summer Festival. Enrico in "Lucia di Lammermoor", Dappertutto in “Les Contes d'Hoffmann”, the Father in "Hansel Und Gretel" and again as Marcello in “La Bohème” at Utah Valley University. Kade loves to take what he has learned in his many years of stage experience and study to the voice studio. He enjoys working with a wide variety of repertoire.

Kade is an exceptional young baritone who works hard to master the music he performs. His voice is bright, yet rich and full bodied. Not only is he a well rounded, technically developed artist, but he is able to masterfully convey emotional content. He finds unique dramatic appeal within each character he plays. With a repertoire ranging from Korngold to Tchaikovsky, he continually showcases his versatility.

In his younger years, he trained in dance, musical theater, and straight acting, making him extremely versatile and knowledgeable about performance. This foundation served as a launch pad into the operatic tradition. He has taken his mastery of the stage and has combined it with his technical mastery of the operatic tradition to make him into what he is today.

Teaching Style

When it comes to technical pedagogy, I teach based on the principles of the Italian school of singing. This includes pedagogy stemming from Manuel Garcia, Mathilde Marchesi, and the long line of famous singers and teachers that came from their teachings.

Artistically, I like to share what has helped me in the past and what I have observed to help many of my colleagues. I have spent a lot of time on stage and in music scores and have a very versatile tool set to help other artists grow.

When it comes to how I apply this in lessons, it is very individualized. Everyone has different strengths and weaknesses and everyone has different needs, technically and artistically.

Curriculum

I don't often assign any readings to students, but I do often assign repertoire. I have different recommendations for singers based on their current strengths and weaknesses. Especially when it comes to repertoire.

If students are interested in reading on voice technique, I recommend Manuel Garcia's The Art of Singing, Mathilde Marchesi's The Technics of Bel Canto (tailored towards female voices), and Jerome Hine's Great Singers on Great Singing.
