About
Everyone should be able to feel comfortable learning to sing and have a safe space for it. I have been studying voice, both classical and musical theatre for 30+ yrs and I am currently finishing my Master's in Music from the University of Idaho with a focus on Opera Performance. I have been on the stage for almost 34 yrs in community theatres, summerstock theatre, pageants, competitions, and in school. I most recently returned from Tokyo, Japan after playing the principal role of Marcellina in the opera Le Nozze di Figaro with the Tokyo Opera Studio. I have not only taught voice lessons to Jr. high and high school students, but I also taught Communications 101 at the University of Idaho for 2 yrs and taught and maintained my own yoga studio for 6 yrs before going back to school. I know what it is like to feel the anxiety of performing and the nerves of looking for a new teacher. I am hear to help you with the proper technique to sing safely, help prepare for auditions and I am also here for those that want to learn just for fun. But I am most importantly here to help make you feel comfortable and guide you no matter your level.
Teaching Style
I believe in meeting the student where they are at. The student ultimately drives the direction of the lessons and I walk alongside. The first couple of lessons are used to not only get to know each other, but also for me to find out where you are at vocally and where you want to end up. You are the most important part of the equation. I am just here to make sure the journey is taken safely and appropriately. Every student learns differently and it is my job to find what works best for you.
