Hey there! I'm Keira. I've been playing guitar for the past 15 years and teaching for 3. I am also a qualified audio engineer and producer. I have a passion for all things music, and love to share that joy with others through teaching. My lessons are geared towards various styles and prioritize creating a comfortable and engaging environment for you to learn and progress, no matter your creative preferences or skill level.
Teaching Style
Engaging and patient. I like to take a planned approach to my lessons, which I will design around your level and needs as a player, but am always flexible when my students have song suggestions or ideas to discuss. At the end of the day, our main goal is to enjoy the process.
Curriculum
My teaching method could be summarized into a 3 step process. Step 1 focuses on getting you playing and feeling comfortable with your instrument. Once you are feeling comfortable with the basics we will begin to approach the theory behind your guitar in fun and engaging discussions. Lastly, in step 3, we will begin to advance your playing skills and theory knowledge through different pieces and exercises. I draw from a number of online resources, as well as my own pdfs. I also enjoy using graded syllabi to help my students set a benchmark for their playing level but exams are completely optional.
