I have also toured with Levi Lowrey From Zac Browns-Southern Ground Label, and Mike Richmond of Love Tractor.  I have been teaching for over 25 years and I love it!  I also have 2 courses published on Udemy- 1 for music theory and 1 for beginner guitar. I have a Podcast called 'The Harmonious Blacksmith' which is all about music theory and a youtube channel to support it.

I have been an Assistant Professor of Music at The University of Georgia, Gordon College, Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College, and Southern Miss.

Teaching Style

I teach Fingerstyle picking patterns, strumming, chord-switching, technique, soloing, music theory for guitar players, any song you can imagine, and multiple extended techniques. Having taught for over 25 years now, I have experience teaching ages 5 to 85, from the day-1-beginner, to the most advanced and intricate lessons at the highest level.  I can teach you how to get to playing your favorite songs as soon as possible, teach you how to improvise and jam with friends and groups, and even teach you music theory and composition.

My teaching style is absolutely customizable for each individual.

YOU DO NOT HAVE TO READ MUSIC TO TAKE FROM ME!(but I can teach you to read music fluently if you prefer that path)

I took classical guitar and banjo lessons from Kevin for over 2 years, and he was a great teacher. He has a laid-back attitude but keeps things focused and productive. Kevin is an accomplished classical musician who can teach you complex music theory, scales, modes, key changes, etc, and coach you through any classical repetiteur you want to learn, but he is also knowledgeable and experienced in genres like rock, country, and bluegrass. Whether you want to learn cripple creak on the banjo, or hotel California on the electric guitar, Kevin can get you there as long as you put in the work.

Kevin was a wonderful Ukulele teacher for my son. He was patient, worked with him on songs he liked and taught him so much. We worked with him for 4 years at a studio, on zoom and in our house. I would recommend Kevin to teach anyone (all ages). Though he taught my son ukulele he was knowledgeable about a LOT of other instruments. He is trustworthy, understanding and a kind human.

Kevin took me as an absolute beginner with no musical background and taught me everything that I needed to know to become a modest intermediate guitar player - all starting when I was 44 years old. Thanks to Kevin and his teachings, I can play and sing more than 50 songs to keep me company in the evening after work and on the weekends. Kevin is dedicated to teaching the fundamentals of guitar and then assisting his students to go as far as they want to go as musicians, all with a genuine, compassionate manner.

My children have been taking guitar, banjo, and mandolin from Kevin for many years. He is a patient and encouraging instructor. He respects their personal musical interests. He is very easy-going. My children say that he makes new concepts easy to understand and learn. He also encourages them to get outside their comfort zone and try new styles of music. We highly recommend Mr. Kevin!
