Kimon Phirippides
About
I started on the piano at the age of 2 and then proceeded to take lessons at the age of 5. I attended a prestigious choir school and then proceeded to get music scholarships to Hilton College and Berklee College of Music. I finished my piano grades in high school and released my first classical album at the age of 16.
I also have students who have attended music production colleges in Miami as well as a student at Juilliard. I have dedicated my whole life to music and also have a BA in Music Live Performance which strengthened my understanding of the current music industry.
Although I am heavily involved in the music industry, with regards to releasing my own music and composing for streaming platforms, I believe it's important to pass knowledge onwards and that's why I continue to teach.
Teaching Style
I believe that music based around emotion and that everyone has their own unique style. In my tutoring style, I personalize everyone's experience by analyzing their strengths and weaknesses and prioritizing focus on the areas that need the most work first.
Due to the fact that I was trained in both classical music and jazz, I am proficient in teaching a multitude of genres. I teach Vocals, Piano, Theory, Composition and Intermediate Music Production.
I prefer to be fairly casual with my students; this is to create a relaxed environment and avoid tension. Tension can lead to a multitude of issues when both singing and playing an instrument.
Curriculum
Teaching Approach: My teaching approach is adaptive and student-centred, beginning with an assessment of each student’s current abilities, goals, learning style, and physical tendencies. Lessons are built on a strong classical technical foundation while remaining flexible to suit individual needs and musical interests.
I use multiple technical approaches to help students overcome challenges, recognising that different bodies and minds respond to different exercises. In vocal training, I emphasise healthy technique, tension-free production, and the development of each student’s authentic voice rather than a one-size-fits-all sound.
I prioritise creating a calm, supportive learning environment, as physical and psychological relaxation are essential for healthy vocal production, piano technique, and long-term musical growth. Students can expect structured progression combined with personalised repertoire and practical musicianship skills.
