Kiona Burgess
About
I am a classically trained violinist. I have studied the violin for 19 years and received my Bachelor of Music Degree from Stephen F. Austin State University. I offer beginner to intermediate lessons for both violin and viola. I have worked as an Early Childhood Music Educator for El Sistema Colorado and as an Orchestra Director with the Colorado Chamber Outreach Program in the Douglas County School District. As a teacher, I strive to build a safe classroom environment where my students can feel confident in their musical ability and comfortable asking questions.
Teaching Style
I take a classical approach to teaching music. I like to focus on the fundamentals of music and making sure those are well established before moving on to more critical things. I like to keep the lessons fun and exciting for my students so they enjoy their progress and growth as a musician.
Curriculum
I like to teach beginners from the Suzuki books or Sound Innovations books. However, I am open to other text. For more advanced students, I am open to discuss what they would like to work on and tailor a lesson plan for their specific goals.
