About
Welcome, students! I’m a flamenco and classical guitarist based in Seville, Spain, with seventeen years of teaching experience. I specialize in teaching flamenco compás, technique, and repertoire and in guiding classical guitarists in developing their technique, repertoire, sight-reading and interpretive skills. I also enjoy teaching beginners of all ages, whether they’re children starting out on three-string Loog guitar or adults on acoustic guitar.
Upcoming Group Classes in Flamenco Guitar:
Exploring Flamenco: Seguiriyas, Bulerías in Am, Garrotin starts January 25th, 2026
Self-Paced Courses (learn at your own rhythm!):

Feel free to send me a message if you have any questions, scheduling or otherwise!
Teaching Style
I want my students to love playing the guitar and grow as musicians. The balance of having fun and improving is unique to each student and may shift over time. I work with a wide range of learners: young beginners taking their first steps, ambitious teens considering a career in music, busy adults juggling the guitar with other commitments, and retirees who devote hours a day to serious music study.
Balance: Playing music requires balancing effort with relaxation, discipline with creativity, and thinking with feeling. Every student leans naturally toward certain strengths, and I help you identify and make full use of those strengths while addressing the areas you find challenging.
Effective Practice: Playing music requires more than simply understanding how to move your fingers; it’s about training your hands to execute movements reliably. It's a different skill set from academic sort of learning that many adults are well versed in. It requires a focused, deliberate approach that can't be rushed. I'll teach you how to practice guitar effectively and correct mistakes as soon as they creep in, so that you can learn quickly and to your full potential.
Studio Recitals: I host twice-yearly studio recitals to give students a chance to polish and perform a piece for friends, family, and peers. Students can play their piece live or share a recent recording. (Participation is encouraged, but not required.)
Minimum Age: I teach students ages six and up but can accommodate younger students if they are eager and ready. For younger learners, parental involvement in lessons and practice may be necessary. I recommend three-string Loog guitars for students under eight or anyone looking for a simple, accessible start.
Lesson Duration:
Flamenco and Classical Guitar Students: Experienced players benefit most from weekly 45-minute lessons. We warm up with technical exercises, learn new repertoire, and polish recent pieces. We periodically review your repertoire and set goals like recordings or recitals.
Beginning Guitarists: For kids and adults starting out, 30-minute weekly lessons are ideal. Early on, consistency is more important than lesson length. We’ll start with exercises and pieces I select for you, gradually incorporating music of your choice as you progress.
Curriculum
Don't worry about having books or music on hand for your first lesson! We'll figure out the right path for you during the first couple lessons, and in some cases, I can provide the necessary resources.
Flamenco Guitar
Flamenco guitar lessons focus on learning the fundamentals of flamenco technique and building a repertoire of solo material from various 'palos' (song forms). We will gradually cover core flamenco palos (Soleá, Alegrías, Tangos, Tarantos, Fandangos, Seguiriyas, Bulerías) and will branch out little by little Farruca, Guajira, Granaínas, Rumba, etc.
I teach using a combination of tab, demonstration, and lesson recordings. New students can download my handout Flamenco Guitar Essentials, which presents basic vocabulary, flamenco history, and a listening guide.
I draw from a collection of flamenco tab that I have personally created. In addition, I recommend Juan Lorenzo's 200 Exercises for technique study and one or more of the following books of solos: Paco Pena's Toques Flamencos, Juan Martin's Flamenco Solos (Volumes 1 & 2), and Juanito Pascual's The Total Flamenco Guitarist. As you progress, we'll incorporate specific pieces by maestros such as Paco de Lucia, Vicente Amigo, Tomatito, Rafael Riqueni, and more.
Classical Guitar
For beginning classical guitarists who want a solid foundation in classical guitar technique and reading music notation, I recommend Juan Antonio Muro's Basic Pieces for Guitar (Volume 1), followed by Volume 2 and/or Thierry Tisserand's Je Deviens Guitariste (Volume 2). For experienced guitarists, I recommend the Christopher Parkening Guitar Method (Volumes 1 & 2) in combination with the Royal Conservatory Series Bridges. For scales and technical studies at all levels, I recommend the Royal Conservatory's Classical Guitar Technique and/or Bradford Werner's Classical Guitar Technique.
Reading music is important if you're serious about classical guitar. However, I have resources in tab for students who would like to try out classical repertoire before committing to learning notation.
