About

Hey, I’m Leander :)
I have been teaching music for the past nine years, both privately and at Musikplus! music school in Berlin. I began teaching after completing the Preparatory Study in Jazz at the Paul Hindemith Music School in 2017. Over the years I have taught both individual students and group classes.

I teach saxophone and singing to an advanced level, and guitar up to an intermediate level, with a particular focus on finger-picking. I also work with students who are interested in the creative side of music, including composition, songwriting, and arrangement.

The musical styles I most often teach are Jazz, Swing, Soul, Pop and Folk, although I am happy to work in other genres depending on the student’s interests.

In addition to performance, I am also a qualified Sound Designer and can teach music production and mixing for students who want to learn how to record and produce their own music.

Lessons are available for children and adults, from complete beginners to advanced musicians.

Ich kann auch auf Deutsch unterrichten.

Teaching Style

I believe learning music should be an enjoyable and motivating experience. My lessons are tailored to the individual student’s goals, interests and level of experience.

I aim to give students a well-rounded musical education. Rather than focusing only on technique, I encourage students to develop a deeper understanding of music as a whole. My goal is for students to leave lessons not only as stronger players or singers, but also as more confident and independent musicians.

Students who wish can also explore areas such as improvisation, composition, rhythm training, and ear training, which help develop musical intuition and creativity.

Curriculum

My teaching combines practical playing with music theory so that students develop both technical ability and musical understanding.

Lessons may include:

  • technique and tone development

  • repertoire and song study

  • improvisation

  • rhythm and timing exercises

  • ear training

  • music theory and harmony

  • composition and songwriting

For students interested in production, I can also teach the fundamentals of recording, mixing and arranging music so that they can produce their own songs.

The specific materials used depend on the student’s level and goals. I often work with a mixture of standard method books, transcriptions, and songs chosen by the student so that learning remains engaging and relevant.
