About
Education: Lee was educated at The Drummers Collective in Manhattan NY. Taught by iconic drummers such as kim Plainfield, DR Philip Galinsky ( Brasillian Drumming Teacher) among others and Alan Bendian privately. Lee Has traveled the world extensively playing, learning and, teaching drum set, hand percussion for the last 30 years and voice for the past 5 years
Teaching credits :
Lee relocated to The Tampa Bay Area from New York in January 2023. Prior to moving to Florida, Lee gave private lessons, and taught at The School of Rock in Westwood, NJ, the Long Island Drum Center In Nyack NY and at the non-profit Path To Rhythm as a co-facilitator of drum circles and workshops for children ages 3-17. While living in the Czech Republic from 1995-1999 Lee taught drum set and percussion at The International School Of Prague .
Since arriving in Florida, he has taught drum set and percussion at The School of Rock, Berretta Music Academy in Clearwater, and Taylor Robinson Music and Voice.
LEE FARBER has been playing drum set professionally since the age of sixteen.
Originally from NY / NJ, Lee traveled the country and the globe before landing in the Tampa Bay area of Florida. Lee is an established drummer, percussionist, vocalist and songwriter, specializing in Jazz, Blues, Funk and Soul as well as Reggae and World music. While in NY, he played drums and percussion with the Brazilian Bateria Samba New York!
Lee has had his music played on the radio in NYC W.F.U.V. and performed live as Mr Lee And Diversity on Spectrum TV in NYC ( The Art Of Fashion Season 1 Episode 1 ). While living in Prague (1991-1995), and touring in Eastern Europe, he played on TV La Clubochku, and others and Radio1 Praha and made numerous recordings most notably with Plazma ( Lee’s Acid Jazz Band ) and Hermakuti ( Prague’s Reggae And Dub outfit ). Special Needs Training:
Lee has received training for kids and adults with special needs, through The Sunrise Program@ for those on the spectrum. Lee is a big believer of the healing sides of music, and finds teaching young people expremely rewarding: “Music can help develop young peoples minds and social skills while teaching them self confidence and connection to the world around them through self-expression.”
Teaching Style
I start by assesing my students with a group of questions to find out their skill level and aspirations. Then we design a lesson plan and get to drumming. I generally refer to certain books that I prefer to be part of the lesson plan. If their are particular drum lesson books they may have used to get started we can incorporate those books as well. I also believe that starting to play to their favorite recordings and drummers is also a great way to learn .
