About
Professional saxophonist/university sax professor, trained at the nations top music schools, I teach students of all levels and ages, whether just beginning or an experienced player. I have a great amount of experience in both classical and jazz and have been playing for about 24 years and teaching for 15 years. I currently teach saxophone at Austin Peay State University and Tennessee State University, but truly enjoy working with students of all ages and abilities!
I have a Doctorate degree in music from the University of Colorado, have two additional graduate degrees in music from the University of Michigan and Northwestern University and have studied with some of the most renowned saxophonists in my field. I also play in an internationally known saxophone sextet, The Moanin' Frogs, which regularly performs throughout the country.
Teaching Style
In addition to helping students establish solid fundamentals, I can help you reach your goals, whether that be through working on classical solo repertoire, jazz and improvisation, band music, preparing for a competition or audition, and more. I try to make lessons fun and enjoyable for the student. If you don't live near me, online lessons are a great alternative to in person lessons. I have had success teaching many students of various abilities and ages throughout the country and abroad online! I have taught online students from 26 different states and several other counturies.
