About
Welcome! I offer personalized music lessons designed to nurture your musical journey, whether you're just beginning to explore the world of music or are a more experienced musician seeking to refine your skills.
I have been teaching music lessons since 1989, having the privilege of helping countless children, teens and adults find hope and joy through the music they create!
My areas of focus include:
- Instruments: Piano, Voice, Guitar, Trumpet, Baritone, Tuba, Clarinet, and Flute.
- Music Theory: Integrated into every lesson to provide a solid and empowering foundation.
- Music Composition: Unlock your inner creativity and explore the art of music composition with personalized guidance.
Lesson Format:
Lessons are typically 30 minutes, with the flexibility to extend to 45 or 60 minutes as your musical needs and growth progress. I believe in a deeply collaborative partnership, working closely with you to:
- Understand your unique goals and aspirations.
- Co-create a personalized learning plan that inspires you.
- Offer ongoing support and encouragement, even between our scheduled sessions.
Teaching Style
With over 30 years dedicated to music education, I've had the profound privilege of guiding countless students on their individual musical paths. Embracing the possibilities of online learning since 2020, I've cultivated a virtual environment that is both engaging and supportive.
My teaching philosophy is built upon:
- Truly Individualized Instruction: Tailoring each lesson to your specific goals, learning style, and the music that resonates with you.
- Joyful and Engaging Learning: Making the process of learning music not only effective but also deeply enjoyable and inspiring.
- Deep Patience and Understanding: Providing a nurturing and supportive space for learners of all ages and abilities, honoring your unique journey.
Curriculum
For all lesson types (except voice) we have a curriculum text that we follow as well as supplementing with music that you are interested in learning. Voice lessons have exercises and online practice. We will discuss the best curriculum for you (or your child) according to prior experience, abilities/disabilities and interests.
My greatest hope is to help you discover the profound joy and personal enrichment that music can bring to your life. I warmly invite you to schedule a free trial lesson so we can explore if this is the right place for your musical aspirations!
