Marco Belli
About
Hi, I am Marco Belli, an Italian animator with a passion for traditional techniques and analogue painting. I have spent the last 8 years immersed in the world of animation, working as an animator, director of an animation team and film director. I have worked on the animation of 4 feature films and on the pre-production of 2 others, creating digital and analogue animations with my team.
I attended L.Visconti cinema school in Milan from 2016 and graduated in animation in 2019.
I then worked on 4 feature film for the french production company Cineparallax, one of which, "Journey into the twilight" was selected at Venice Film Festival in 2021.
For the past 3 years, I have taught private animation courses in Italy. In 2025, I held two animation courses for the Georges River Council in Sydney, Australia.
Teaching Style
My 2D animation for film course aims to train students in high-level character animation for the development of film projects.
The course will cover all phases of the production of a feature film in animation and will focus in particular on the conception and animation of realistic and anatomically correct characters using traditional 2D techniques.
A training course of this kind allows the animation professional to adapt to any style and requirement that is not limited to the conventional stylizations of the American cartoon and Japanese manga.
Curriculum
My lessons include an explanation of the principles of 2D drawing and animation followed by different types of exercises aimed at consolidating the concepts explained.
Remote lessons will be conducted through the use of digital drawing software such as TV Paint and Photoshop.
For a first approach to animation, I recommend the book ‘The animator's survival kit’, by Richard Williams, a must for the study of animation.
