Marie Burges

My name is Marie Burges, and I am a Band Director within my local school district. My bands have consistently made Excellent and Superior Ratings at District and State Evaluations. My primary instrument is the trumpet; however, I am experienced in teaching all brass and woodwind instruments. As a Trumpet Player I was consistently part of All District Bands and I was a part of All State Band.  I earned my Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education from The University of Southern Mississippi in 2017 and have nine years of teaching experience.

My teaching style is flexible and tailored to each student’s individual learning needs. I adapt my approach to match different learning styles, incorporating modeling on the instrument, rote instruction, and curated video examples to support understanding. Lessons are paced according to the student’s progress, allowing for both accelerated learning and more deliberate, step-by-step development as needed.
