Mariela Espinosa
About
I am a professional singer, songwriter, and vocal coach from Ecuador with over a decade of experience performing, composing, and teaching. I am the lead vocalist and composer for my projects Sr. Maniquí and MUNN, with which I have released several albums through the Chilean label LeRockPsicophonique. With MUNN, I have toured Chile and Argentina three times, and with Sr. Maniquí, I have performed in Chile and Colombia. Both projects have been featured in many of Ecuador’s most important independent music festivals.
I studied Music Production at the Technological University of Chile (INACAP) and Popular Singing at the Escuela de Música Popular de Avellaneda in Buenos Aires, Argentina. I also completed two international performance contracts with Royal Caribbean Cruises, gaining extensive experience as a live performer of multiple genres before audiences from around the world.
Alongside my artistic career, I have taught private voice and performance lessons for over 10 years, working with hundreds of adults and teenagers, as well as serving as a teacher at the Mozarte Conservatory.
Teaching Style
In my lessons, I focus on helping each student connect with their authentic voice —technically, emotionally, and expressively. My approach is personalized and holistic, combining vocal technique, interpretation, and body awareness to help you sing or speak with confidence and freedom.
Drawing from my experience as a professional singer, composer, and performer, I guide students through a process that integrates breathing, posture, vocal placement, and interpretation, always at a pace that feels natural and encouraging. I also incorporate tools from yoga and meditation to develop focus, relaxation, and deeper self-awareness —essential elements for vocal work and stage presence.
Whether you’re a beginner discovering your voice or a more experienced performer looking to refine your style, expand your range, or sing in another language, my goal is to create a supportive environment where learning feels inspiring and enjoyable. You don’t need prior singing experience —just curiosity and the willingness to explore your sound.
In every class, I adapt to your interests and goals: from pop, rock, and jazz to Latin or alternative music, we’ll find the repertoire and techniques that best express who you are as an artist.
Curriculum
Voice and the Alexander Technique — Jane Ruby Heirich
A clear and insightful guide that integrates the principles of the Alexander Technique with vocal practice. I recommend it for anyone interested in understanding how posture, breath, and freedom of movement can enhance both singing and speaking.
The Moving Body / Le Corps Poétique — Jacques Lecoq
A seminal work that explores the body as the source of expression and creativity. Lecoq’s ideas on movement, rhythm, and presence have profoundly influenced my approach to teaching voice and performance, emphasizing awareness and authenticity in every gesture and sound.
Singing with Your Whole Self: The Feldenkrais Method and Voice — David Gorman & Samuel H. Nelson
An excellent resource on how body awareness and sensory learning can transform vocal technique. The book offers practical insights from the Feldenkrais Method, encouraging singers to discover effortlessness and authenticity in sound.
