Hi everyone

Mark here; I am a professional musician/educator originally from UK and now residing in Phnom Penh Cambodia as a self employed Music Teacher and performer. I have had 46 years of extensive experience in both performing and teaching piano an drums. I am experienced in coaching student towards to RSL Rockskool Examinations for drums which are now done digitally as well as face to face and ABRSM UK for Piano.

Qualifications

RSL Grade 8 Drums Performance and Grade 8 Drum Kit  Certificate obtained 2012 - 2014.

Grades 1-6 ABRSM UK Piano Beginner to advanced level obtained 1995-2004

BA Hons Degree in Music Theory and History Awarded by the Open University UK December 2003

Diploma in Music and History Awarded December 1999 by The Open University UK.

Alison Diploma in Music Theory Awarded August 2023

Currently persuing RSL Level 4 Diploma for Drumset and RSL Grade 8 Piano.

Performing Experience: Performed at the 606 Club,  Chelsea, London, UK  Two Times 1990 April and August of t

Residency at Harvey Nichols 5th Floor Restaurant from 1993-1996 total three years as a resident drummer  in a quintet  comprising Piano/Bass/Keyboard/Guitar/Bass.

 Drummer at Golden Jazz Club, Zhuhai China 2014-2012.

Toured Italy 1991-1992 as drummer with funk band touring Milan/Rome/Naples/Florence.

Teaching Experience: 

Preparing students for the ABRSM Piano Exams from 2000-2008, Private One on One UK.

Prepared Students for RSL Grades 1-8 Drum Exams 2020 and ongoing, one on one and digitally.

2012--2014 QSI International School, Zhuhai as Music Teacher, teaching group classes, helping organise end of term concerts.

2014-2023 ZIS International School instrumental teacher of drums and piano and  help in organising concerts.

2023- Ongoing, moved to Phnom Penh March 2023 and began working as a self employed contractor for Soundskool Music here in Phnom Penh teaching Drums/Piano. Soundskool is also affiliated  to RSL UK 

While focusing on exams, I also help student reach their potential, not just for exams but for  becoming a complete musician in the wider spectrum, for example we spend a good amount of time on technique, style study, and repertoire. For those who want to go the exam route, I focus on pieces with a wide style range, while those who want to go the non exam route and play for fun, the student may have their own pieces they want to play as well as preparing students for upcoming performances.
