Matthew Gonano

Hello, I'm Matthew, a passionate drummer with over 22 years of experience, from Canada I started drumming at 12 years old, I have been providing drum set and snare instruction for almost 12 years.  I focus on the art of using particular ideas and concepts to students to improve their drumming and drum set understanding. 

In my professional live music career, I have played for various bands and genres including rock, metal, funk, jazz, latin, pop. The bands i have performed with are; The Folk n Guys, Alli G and the Quilas, The Stuffs, At terminus, The Lazy/Punch drunks, George Hess jazz projects, and various other genres.

I have taught at the Ontario academy of music and at Drummers choice in Canada, I now currently teach at Northbridge as the head drum teacher, and am looking forward to helping you improve your playing no matter if you are a beginner, intermediate or professional player!

In lessons, emphasis is placed on: rudiments, theory and bookwork, ear training, time keeping, fill work, adapting to different styles, and most importantly playing to music.  All lessons are custom tailored for the individual student drummer.  I will assist students in preparation for school band auditions, music evaluations and also help to prepare students for live playing.  I am fluid with several styles of music genres and enjoy teaching students of all ages
