Maxime Serafino
About
Hello ! I'm Max, a third year Art and Design Education student at Pratt Institute. I am a drawing concentration with over 5 years of experience in 2D media. I am currently studying for my teaching certification and will graduate with a BFA/MA combined degree at the end of my program. I have a background in painting, and my work has been shown at the San Diego Museum of Art, the San Diego mayor's office, and Blick art stores. I am currently student teaching at a public high school in Brooklyn and have taught classes at the library in the past. I want to help students refine their artwork and prepare for college applications and AP exams. I offer classes in addition to tutoring and critique, so if you are not currently enrolled in an art class I would love to help find a way to incorporate it into your life !
Teaching Style
I am pursuing a degree in education because of the impact my educators had on me. A competent teacher can be the difference between a passing and failing grade. In addition to my arts education, I practice culturally responsive pedagogy and strive to help students find their voice and weave their stories into their work.
I believe that every student is capable of making beautiful work, and I want to work with their personal style to better refine their visual language and prepare for the rigor of a fine arts college.
