Maxine Roberts

I am a qualified and experienced jazz, classical and contemporary piano teacher with over 18 years of teaching experience.

At the age of 17, I completed my grade 8 classical piano cum laude and grade 6 theory of music from UNISA. I was subsequently invited to participate in the UNISA Music Scholarship Competition. I obtained my Bachelor of Music degree cum laude, majoring in jazz piano performance, and my Master of Music in musicology from the University of Pretoria.

During my undergraduate studies, I tutored aural training for the University of Pretoria, as well as jazz piano improvisation privately. Since 2013, I have been teaching piano, keyboard and music appreciation at a private school, as well as in-person and online piano lessons after-hours. Among the students aged 4 to 82 whom I have taught, many have achieved up to 96% for their Trinity College London piano and theory examinations, and won numerous eisteddfod categories.

My lessons focus on developing my students' technical, aural, performance, sight reading and theoretical skills, through playing their favorite pieces and songs. I am a very patient teacher who loves working with beginners to advanced level students of all ages.
