About

I’m a professional music tutor, producer, and songwriter with over ten years of teaching and industry experience. I hold a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music Arts from the University of Uyo, Nigeria, where I received formal academic training in music theory, composition, performance, and contemporary music practices. I also hold a Diploma in Music Technology from Pencil Film and TV Institute, where I developed practical skills in audio production, recording, and modern music workflows.

I work comfortably with beginners, intermediate, and advanced students, adapting each lesson to the student’s goals, learning style, and musical background. My teaching covers a wide range of styles, including African music, blues, classical music, gospel, hip hop/rap, funk, soul, world music, and contemporary popular genres. I also teach songwriting, lyric writing, music theory (from fundamentals to advanced concepts), ear training, improvisation, and music analysis, helping students understand not just what to play, but why it works.

As a professional musician, I play saxophone, guitar, and vocals, and I’m an active music producer working with Logic Pro X, Cubase, Reason, and FL Studio. My production experience spans genres such as Afrobeats, hip hop, R&B, EDM, highlife, gospel, and fusion styles. In addition to studio work, I have been actively involved in church music, serving as a vocalist and instrumentalist, performing regularly in worship settings and live services. This has strengthened my practical musicianship, ensemble awareness, and ability to work in real performance environments.

Alongside teaching and producing, I’m an experienced music writer and editor, creating music-related articles, educational content, and media. I have also worked as a radio show presenter, scriptwriter, and producer, hosting the music program “Never Heard Of” on local radio in Uyo, Nigeria, where I curated content, wrote scripts, presented live shows, and engaged audiences around music discovery and education.

Teaching Style

My teaching style is student-centred, flexible, and results-driven. I don’t believe in a one-size-fits-all approach—every student learns differently, so I tailor each lesson to fit the individual’s goals, skill level, musical taste, and pace of learning. Over the past 10+ years, I have taught music theory, instrumental performance, songwriting, and music production to students of varying ages and experience levels, both in-person and online.

Students often highlight my patience, clarity, and ability to explain complex musical ideas in a simple, practical way. I focus on building strong fundamentals while keeping lessons engaging, encouraging, and musically relevant, helping students develop confidence, creativity, and independence.

Curriculum

My teaching method is highly practical, interactive, and application-focused. From the very first lesson, students are encouraged to play, listen, create, analyse, and experiment with musical ideas. I use real songs, stylistic examples, improvisation exercises, ear training, and creative assignments to reinforce musical concepts.

Music theory is always taught in context and directly connected to the music the student enjoys and wants to understand. Lessons are continuously adjusted based on progress and feedback, ensuring steady development of strong fundamentals, musical awareness, and real-world skills that students can apply outside the lesson environment.
