Michalis
About
I am a dedicated guitar instructor focused on helping students build solid technique, musical understanding, and confidence in their playing. I work with students of all levels — from complete beginners to more advanced players who want to refine their skills and musical expression.
My lessons are structured but always adapted to each student’s goals, learning speed, and musical interests. I believe that good technique and musical awareness go hand in hand, so we work on posture, tone production, rhythm, and coordination, while also developing musicality and creativity.
Depending on the student’s level, lessons may include:
• Fundamental guitar technique
• Right and left hand coordination
• Tone control and articulation
• Rhythm development
• Music theory applied directly to the instrument
• Reading music or tablature (if desired)
• Improvisation and expressive playing
I create a supportive learning environment where students feel comfortable, motivated, and challenged in a healthy way. My goal is not only to teach pieces or exercises, but to help students understand the instrument and grow as independent musicians.
Whether you are starting your journey with the guitar or looking to take your playing to the next level, I will guide you step by step toward your musical goals.
Teaching Style
I am an active music educator and performer with professional teaching experience in recognized music institutions in Greece. I currently serve as Artistic Director at the Municipal Conservatory of Sitia, where I contribute to music education planning, artistic coordination, and the development of educational programs.
I also work as a Guitar Instructor at the Municipal Conservatory of Heraklion, teaching students of different ages and levels, helping them build strong technical foundations, musical understanding, and performance confidence.
In addition to my teaching roles, I hold an academic degree with specialization in Guitar from the Ionian University (Greece), which has provided me with in-depth musical training, pedagogical knowledge, and a structured understanding of technique, interpretation, and musicianship.
My background combines academic study, conservatory teaching, and practical musicianship. This allows me to offer lessons that balance technical precision, musical expression, and long-term artistic development. My work in music education extends beyond individual lessons, contributing to broader educational and artistic initiatives within the conservatory environment.
Curriculum
My teaching method is based on a structured and progressive approach that combines technical development with musical understanding. I focus on building a solid foundation, ensuring that students develop correct posture, hand coordination, tone production, and rhythmic control from the beginning.
Each lesson is tailored to the student’s level, goals, and learning pace. I break down complex skills into clear, manageable steps so students can progress confidently without frustration. Technical exercises are always connected to real musical applications, helping students understand why they are practicing each element.
A typical lesson may include:
• Technical work for right and left hand coordination
• Tone production and control
• Rhythm training and timing
• Repertoire suited to the student’s level
• Elements of music theory applied directly to the guitar
• Development of musical expression and interpretation
I encourage students to listen actively, think musically, and gradually become independent learners. My goal is not only to teach pieces, but to help students understand the instrument and develop long-term musical skills.
