Michelley Murphy
About
My aim as a teacher is to teach my students the technical and musical fundamentals of violin and viola. I have been playing violin for over 14 years and teaching for 7 years. I have a degree in violin performance and have had lots of experience in both private teaching and teaching in a public school system. I have had the opportunity throughout the years to study, perform and record with various teachers who have helped me learn more about the different styles of music and develop good technique along with musicality. I really enjoy teaching and getting to work with every student's musical goals while also choosing music that helps them reach that with all the fundamentals involved. Watching a student's face light up when they finally understand or they’re playing the instrument for the first time never gets old. Teaching is very rewarding and every day I am excited to share my passion for music with others.
Teaching Style
Ages 5 and up!
I always like to ask at the first lesson what each students goals are. While I teach classical music and focus on the fundamentals from classical music, the student might want to branch out and learn more fun popular songs which is totally encouraged at my studio. There's never a rush. Every student goes at their own pace and learns at their own pace. Together we will always work out the best practice plan for each student depending on what they can handle. I am always open to adapt to what suits everyone needs and goals. Technique and posture will be taught and focused on in the beginning alongside learning fun music.
