Teaching Style
Hi. I'm Miranda Basset and I have been playing the piano and singing since the age of 5. I would love to teach you the joy of learning to play the piano, keyboards or singing, no matter what your age, right from beginners’ level. I will show you how to read music, as well as improving your ear, so that you can play or sing your favorite pieces, be it classical, contemporary or pop.
Playing the piano and singing is a great way to unwind and have fun, while boosting your memory too.
I treat each student as an individual and adapt my teaching style to teach their unique needs.
I like to remain flexible and open in my approach within a traditional framework. This framework includes learning to read music, playing easy classical pieces, learning scales, singing exercises and singing pop songs.
Curriculum
Piano & keyboards: the method books I like to use are: Alfred's Lesson Book Level A (from Alfred's Basic Piano Library), Alfred's Lesson Book Level B and Alfred's Basic Adult Piano Course Level 1.
I also use Bastien's Piano Basics Series starting with the Primer Level, followed by Level 1 (suitable for age 7 upwards) and the Bastien's Piano for Adults.
Singing method: this includes breathing exercises, basic vocal technique and songs of your choice.
