About
I am an accomplished Arabic linguist and educator with over 20 years of experience teaching Modern Standard Arabic and Gulf dialects to diplomats, military personnel, and professionals. I am also a certified OPI tester and curriculum developer, having conducted more than 3,000 proficiency interviews and designed tailored language programs that integrate culture, dialects, and multimedia learning tools.
I have worked extensively as a language analyst and technical recruiter, bringing strong communication and problem‑solving skills to diverse professional environments. I hold a Master’s degree in Computer Information Systems and am fluent in Arabic and English, with working knowledge of Turkish.
I am recognized for my ability to bridge linguistic expertise with cultural insight, empowering learners to achieve fluency and confidence in Arabic for academic, professional, and cross‑cultural contexts.
Teaching Style
I have over 20 years of experience as an Arabic language instructor, tutor, and linguist, working with diplomats, military personnel, government staff, university students and other professionals. My career includes teaching at the International Language Institute (ILI) and Diplomatic Language Services (DLS), where I designed curricula for all levels of Arabic, conducted cultural training, and performed more than 3,000 Oral Proficiency Interviews (OPIs). I also served as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in media analysis and translation, covering political, economic, and military topics. Beyond teaching, I have extensive experience in technical recruiting for major defense and intelligence contractors, which strengthened my communication and problem‑solving skills.
My achievements include successfully preparing students for DLPT and university exams, developing multimedia instructional tools, and bridging linguistic expertise with cultural insight to help learners achieve fluency and confidence.
I would describe my teaching style as interactive, adaptive, and culturally immersive. I focus on engaging students in meaningful conversations, tailoring lessons to their current level, and encouraging confidence through practice. I emphasize clarity and patience, breaking down complex grammar into manageable steps while fostering a supportive environment. My native skills in Arabic (MSA "Fus-ha" and Gulf/Kuwaiti dialect expertise) allows me to enrich lessons with authentic cultural context, helping students not only learn the language but also understand the traditions and nuances behind it. I balance structure with flexibility, ensuring that each student’s learning goals are met while keeping sessions dynamic and motivating.
Curriculum
My teaching method combines structured curriculum design with practical application. I create lesson plans that integrate vocabulary, grammar, and cultural elements, supported by multimedia tools such as Smart Boards, flashcards, and dialogues. I use scenario‑based conversations to simulate real‑life situations, helping students apply what they learn immediately. Root analysis of Arabic words is a key technique I employ to deepen understanding and retention. I also adapt my approach depending on whether the student is preparing for exams, professional assignments, or personal enrichment. By blending Modern Standard Arabic (MSA/ Fus-ha) with Gulf dialect exposure, I ensure learners gain both formal proficiency and practical communication skills.
