About

Hi there! I’m Nashrah, a passionate violinist and instructor dedicated to helping students of all ages discover the joy of playing the violin. I’ve been playing for over 14 years and have experience performing in University orchestras, music academies, and recitals. My goal as a teacher is to create a supportive and inspiring learning environment where students not only build strong technical skills but also develop confidence, creativity, and a lifelong love for music.

Teaching Style

I have over 4 years of teaching experience, offering private violin lessons to students of all ages. My students have prepared for school orchestra auditions, recitals, and personal enrichment. I emphasize consistency, confidence, and musical expression through individualized lesson plans. Every student learns differently, so I tailor my lessons to each person’s pace, goals, and interests. For beginners, I focus on establishing proper technique, posture, and ear training while keeping lessons engaging through familiar songs and fun exercises. For intermediate students, we explore musicality, vibrato, shifting, and expressive phrasing. I incorporate both classical and contemporary pieces to keep learning enjoyable and well-rounded.

Curriculum

  • Clear, step-by-step guidance that builds a strong foundation

  • Personalized feedback and encouragement every session

  • A balance of technical exercises, repertoire, and performance tips

  • Patience, positivity, and an emphasis on musical expression

Whether your goal is to play for fun, prepare for auditions, or improve your overall musicianship, I’m excited to help you reach it one note at a time!

Credentials & Affiliations

I earned my Bachelor of Science in Public Health Practice with a minor in Business from the University of Maryland, College Park, in 2025. My formal violin training began at The Johns Hopkins University Peabody Preparatory (2011–2018), where I studied under distinguished faculty and performed in advanced youth orchestras and chamber ensembles. From 2021–2025, I performed with the University of Maryland Symphony Orchestra (UMSO) at the Clarice Smith Performing Arts Center, participating in major orchestral works by Beethoven, Brahms, and Tchaikovsky. Additionally, I’ve performed in local recitals, Peabody’s Honors Recital Series, and the Maryland All-State Orchestra. Over the past four years, I have taught private violin lessons to students ranging from children to adults, guiding them in technique, ear training, and musical interpretation. My education at Peabody and performance experience at UMD have shaped me into a well-rounded musician and dedicated teacher committed to inspiring the next generation of violinists.
