Teaching Style
My teaching method is based on a flexible and culturally-aware approach. I select the core method books according to the country where the student lives — for example, using the most popular series in the US and Canada, or adapting to the standard materials used in Europe or Asia. This ensures that if a student continues their musical journey at a local music school or institution, they will feel confident and aligned with the educational standards of their region.
Alongside these books, I incorporate my own structured method focused on building strong foundations in piano technique, music theory, rhythm training, and solfège. I also believe that from the very beginning, students should be able to play beautiful and engaging melodies that match their skill level. This boosts motivation and deepens their love for music.
Repertoire is always selected based on the student’s level, culture, and personal taste — while also drawing from my expertise as an educator to guide their growth in the most enjoyable and effective way possible.
Curriculum
My lesson plans are structured and level-based, tailored to each student’s age, country of residence, playing level, and goals — whether it's pursuing a career in music or learning piano for joy and self-expression.
The core method books I use are chosen based on these factors and include:
Piano adventures series
John Thompson’s series
Michael Aaron method books
ABRSM piano series
Hanon Virtuoso Exercises
Czerny studies
Schmitt finger technique exercises
For students preparing for the ABRSM exams, I first introduce the necessary prerequisites and preparatory materials, then guide them through the official ABRSM books. Many of my students have passed these exams with Distinction.
All books and materials are organized into structured levels from Pre-Basic to Upper Advanced. In addition to the main books, I provide PDF supplements and curated repertoire selections that suit the student’s level and musical preferences.
Classical repertoire may include pieces by:
J.S. Bach
Beethoven
Mozart
Schubert
Chopin
Tchaikovsky
Modern and contemporary repertoire includes works by:
Ludovico Einaudi
Yann Tiersen
Philip Glass
Yiruma
Max Richter
For students who enjoy pop music, I arrange and provide simplified versions of their favorite songs tailored to their current skill level.
If desired, I also teach pop-classical vocal performance, including how to sing while playing piano and the fundamentals of proper accompaniment technique.
