With over 10 years of teaching experience, I've worked with students of all levels in private studios, at Allegro Music in Calgary, Music Central Ltd. in Okotoks, and through school programs in Manitoba. My approach emphasizes encouragement, creativity, and steady progress in a relaxed environment—no pressure, just real growth and enjoyment.

Musical Background & Credentials:

- Lifelong pianist and singer, performing since childhood.

- Royal Conservatory of Music: Level 8 Piano and Level 10 Voice (advanced performance and technical foundation).

- Extensive training in music theory, harmony, and pedagogy to help students build strong fundamentals.

- Performance highlights: Singing the national anthem at baseball games, lead understudy in a full musical production, festival competitor, church soloist/accompanist, and frequent recital collaborator.

My teaching style is encouraging, personalized, and fun-focused, blending structure with flexibility to suit each student's unique needs, age, and goals. Lessons typically combine proven method books and graded level materials (like Royal Conservatory syllabus) for steady progress in technique, repertoire, and musicianship, while I supplement with custom printouts, creative exercises, and targeted warmups drawn from my years of performing and teaching experience.

For voice students, we start with gentle, effective vocal warmups (from my personal collection and trusted resources) to build healthy technique, breath support, and confidence—whether you're exploring pop, classical, musical theater, or just singing for joy. Piano lessons emphasize solid fundamentals through level-appropriate pieces, scales, and theory integration, with plenty of hands-on guidance and ear training.

Music theory is woven in naturally—through fun printouts, worksheets I create or adapt, and real-world application to songs/pieces—so it feels relevant rather than dry. I adapt every lesson to your pace: more games and play for young beginners, deeper expression and refinement for intermediates, and goal-oriented prep (exams, auditions, or personal enjoyment) when that's the focus.
