About
I specialize in accent reduction and clear communication for non-native English speakers who want to sound more natural and confident—especially in professional and business settings.
With over 10 years of experience, a BA from the University of Iowa, and certifications in TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) and TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language), I’ve helped engineers, executives, healthcare professionals, and other global experts improve their pronunciation, intonation, and rhythm so they can express themselves clearly and be taken seriously.
I’ve worked with professionals from over 20 countries, many in high-stakes roles where effective communication is essential. Whether you're aiming for a neutral American accent or simply want to be clearly understood, my goal is to help you speak as clearly as you think—without overthinking every word.
Teaching Style
My teaching style is supportive, structured, and practical. I give direct, actionable feedback while creating a positive, non-judgmental space where students feel safe to experiment and grow.
Each session is personalized to your goals, profession, and language background. I always explain why something matters—not just what to do—so you can understand the logic behind the change, build self-awareness, and make lasting improvements.
I love watching my students go from hesitant and self-conscious to clear, fluent, and self-assured, and I’m committed to helping every learner get there.
Curriculum
My approach is results-driven and highly personalized. I don’t just teach sounds—I help you retrain your speaking habits using a phonetic-based system that emphasizes muscle memory, real-life scenarios, and consistent repetition.
We focus on the most important aspects of spoken English:
-
Accurate vowels and consonants
-
Syllable and sentence stress
-
Rhythm, intonation, and linking
-
Real-world speech flow and clarity
I use a mix of techniques including:
-
Shadowing
-
Minimal pair drills
-
Live modeling and feedback
-
Audio/video recordings for practice
-
Customized exercises based on your native language and goals
For self-study, I provide custom-made materials tailored to your needs. I occasionally recommend additional resources such as:
-
Well Said by Linda Grant
-
Ship or Sheep?
-
English Pronunciation in Use
-
IPA charts and targeted rhythm/stress drills
However, most of the tools I use are adapted or created specifically for each student, so every practice session is relevant and effective.
