First lesson was infinitely helpful just figuring out where I am in the process and the path moving forward. I can already tell Nils is a fantastic teacher and listener. Excited for the next one.

First lesson. Nils has a great space, was easy to talk to, and went out of his way to get a sense of my goals.

Nils is not only a great teacher, but a great guy! You'll only be as good as the work you put in each week, but with a teacher like Nils he will find ways to strengthen your weaknesses while having fun doing it. He will challenge you to be better but never make you want to quit. It's an hour I look forward to each and every week!

Nils not only knows the ins and outs of guitar; he is able to quickly gauge your skill level, and address the areas that need re-enforcement, and correct the areas whereas bad habits may have been developed. Looking forward to unlocking some sweet abilities!

Nils is an inspiring teacher. He is very thoughtful with his lessons and patient with your progress however slow. He is also very knowledgeable in his craft and often intertwines the history of music with practice sessions. Music is a great way to get an often neglected side of our brains to breathe, and teachers like Nils give us that much needed oxygen. I'll always remember how he helped me think about Smokestack lightning: when I began, I felt utterly hopeless, but he gave me crucial pointers on how to think about the song, and after much practice, I eventually got it, and can now even dare to improvise!! Thank you Nils!!

Nils is an amazing musician and knowledgeable instructor. He helped me dig out of that all too common rut every guitar beginner encounters. I'm taking the blues guitar course and after two months already seeing the improvement in my strumming and fretboard control. His lessons are challenging and create a solid foundation that help in playing all genres of music. I brought Nils a few guitars I was considering. He played them and pointed out details in each one that helped me decide. I highly recommend Nils.

I am a beginner who tooled around on YouTube, learning some basics, and then took a group class. While I had a lot of fun with the group lessons, I felt like I was missing out on some fundamentals that would give me a strong foundation to build from. At the first lesson with Nils, I had some performance anxiety since I was going from group lessons to being the only student, but he is so nice and super chill that I felt at ease almost immediately. He watches your playing with a critical eye, but never comes across as critical. His feedback is constructive and spot on. While I have a long way to go, I'm already looking at my hands far less when I play and my chord changes have gotten noticeably faster. My pick strumming has improved and I feel my confidence starting to build. Nils also takes a keen interest in your goals and works with music that YOU want to play. I would also say he is a very intuitive teacher. One of my favorite parts of the sessions are when he plays along with you. He seems to sense how to push just outside of your comfort zone (where the growth happens), but not push so far that you feel frustrated and want to curse his name! I also enjoy the musical knowledge he imparts in the course of chatting. Makes me want to learn more. (Although ear training seems so, so daunting.) I have a feeling that, at some point, I may reasses my goals to push a little further down the path than I initially had envisioned. Nils makes it feel possible...and FUN!! I always look forward to my weekly lesson and leave feeling happy and energized. I highly recommend seeing if he is a fit for you, too!

Speaking with honesty. Nils is a major reason why I truly love playing and learning the guitar now. It's hilarious to me in hindsight when even the mere thought of taking an in person class would make me anxious and I was afraid I wouldn't be able to connect with my teacher. But Nils, he's made it seem like we've been friends for years. Every class just builds on top of my ever growing appreciation for music. I leave every session not only excited about what I've learned but as well as the potential of what I CAN learn. Couldn't recommend him enough!

Nils is a capable teacher with clearly evident musical experience. I have been taking lessons from him for about 3 months now. He is particularly gifted at interpreting how a work should be played based on how it sounds or has been performed in the past, a skill he brings to bear for his students.

Nils is extremely knowledgeable and explains concepts thoroughly and patiently. He’s very much mastered both teaching and performing his craft and is equal parts artistic and technicality minded, a balance most of my previous creative instructors lacked, and one I believe plays an integral part in teaching a craft well.

Nils is an outstanding instructor. He spends whatever time he needs to to make sure you learn what you want to learn. He is very flexible, and very patient. He takes great interest in your progress, and focuses his lessons on the skills you want to learn rather than driving a specific rote curriculum. He focuses his lessons on song rather than technique, and he adapts his lessons to the kind of music you want to learn. He is so knowledgeable about guitar that he help you figure out how to play any piece. I have made great progress under his tutelage, and am advancing from the beginning stages much more quickly than I anticipated.

I started with Nils after self teaching through YouTube, and would consider myself about an intermediate. I hit a point in my playing where I no longer had a good idea of how to get where I wanted to go. Nils has been really helpful in giving me direction towards my goals and exploring new guitar concepts through songs. He has a wide knowledge and has encouraged me to learn multiple styles, as well as improvisation which I used to shy away from. It’s really been invaluable to have someone like Nils as a guide in your guitar journey

Nils has been working with our son for a little over the past month, and we are very happy in finding such a talented teacher. Our son has some music background, having taken some guitar instruction in the past, so Nils was pretty quick to pick up on where he is musically and right off the bat work how to adjust to his needs. His lessons are a good mix of theory and application, and we can see how they (the lessons) are progressing in terms of complexity and reach. While we, the parents, are very happy to let them work out the lessons themselves, Nils has taken great care in keeping us in the loop, and we certainly appreciate that as parents. Certainly looking forward to how these guys progress!

As an older beginner, I was a bit reluctant to try to learn to play guitar. However, working with Nils has allowed me to progress further and faster than I could have imagined. Nils has a way of making each lesson interesting, enjoyable, and very productive.

I am a beginner of acoustic guitar... Nils is an awesome instructor and have been learning and improving a lot. I plan to do in person and Skype lessons when I travel.

Nils is very knowledgeable and can help you with growing as a guitar player. He can help you have a better understanding of theory and how to apply it, knows a lot about gear, and has a wide array of skills so he can teach many different songs and concepts.

Nils is a great teacher. he’s very knowledgeable and has helped me improve a lot. he’s also super attentive to my playing habits both good and bad and crafts exercises to work on my weak areas and take my skills to the next level. anyone can show you how to play a song, but very few are as deft as Nils at teaching you guitar.

Nils is an excellent teacher. After many years of trying to master certain songs he was able to hone in on the instruction that I needed. He helped me make progress and enjoy myself along the way.

I had several great lessons with Nils. He helped me break through a plateau I was on in terms of modal soloing and also with recognizing chord shapes and how the lie underneath scale structures. He was responsive, knowledgeable and quick to grasp what I, as an already experienced player, needed to improve. Highly recommended!

My son absolutely loves Nils. Nils has been his guitar teacher for a few years now and has been very patient and accommodating especially since my son has Autism which can sometimes make traditional instruction a challenge. However, Nils is able to recognize his strengths and treats him just like a regular "cool dude" and I have since seen my son be more confident with his guitar playing. Nils has helped my son become a better " Rock Star" every week.

As an adult learner who's never even held a guitar until now, I put in a lot of time and effort into finding the right guitar instructor. I wanted someone extremely patient and empathetic to the struggles of a novice, in addition to being an expert musician himself. I found all that and more in Nils B.
