Hello, my Name is NsikakAbasi, a Nigerian, and I am thrilled to welcome you to my profile.

I am a passionate and ambitious musician with a First Class Honours degree in Music from the University of Uyo, Nigeria. Over the years, I have cultivated a deep understanding of music and honed my craft as a pianist, and music tutor in various esteemed organizations.

My professional journey of over 15 years spans several impactful roles such as being a resident pianist, session/touring musician, ensemble member/director, graduate assistant at reputable institutions of world standard. As a professional pianist, I have performed in banquets, concert halls, clubs (as cocktail pianist), jazz and Afro bands many of which I happen to lead. As a Pianist, I am well versed in Jazz, Funk, Gospel, Afro, RnB, and Pop music delivery. Also, as a seasoned tutor with a robust years of experience beneath my sleeves, I deliver world class lessons in Piano playing and Music theory, inspiring and guiding students both onsite and online to achieving their musical dreams.

As a dedicated performer, and educator, my philosophy is predicated on ensuring a strong musical foundation for every of my students, equipping them with up-to-date knowledge on the Piano whether as a beginner, an intermediate or advanced Piano player. You will learn and develop solid fundamentals through reading, technical and aural exercises, extemporization, band play, preparation for conservatoire examinations and many more.

My passion for music is matched by my commitment to continuous learning and growth. I hold certifications from prestigious institutions, including The Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music, Scotland, and The Music Society of Nigeria, Lagos which reflect my theoretical and practical proficiency in music.

As I advance in my career, I am driven by a vision to leverage my skills and experiences in dynamic and innovative learning environment with students across the globe. I am eager to contribute to your growth, collaborate with you, and together embrace new challenges with you to attain your musical heights.

 

Teaching Style

My teaching style is student centered. Every lesson is a journey—a fun, personalized experience designed to nurture creativity, build confidence, and shape you into a well-rounded musician. Whether you’re a beginner or ready to refine your skills, I’m here to help you make music your masterpiece.

 

Curriculum

My teaching methods is student designed to meet the need of each student. This will be based on rapport to create a healthy student-tutor relationship 

Recommended texts include:

1. The Ada Richter Piano course

2. Piano Adventure by the Fabers

3. Alfred's Basic Piano Library 

4. Gig-bag book of scales and chords (text designed by me)

5. The Secrets to playing Piano by Ear by Jermaine Griggs

6. The AB guide to Music by Eric Taylor

7. Jazz fake book with over 550 jazz standards

Other texts will be made available in class to address students specific needs.
