About

Hello! My name is Peterson, and I am a music director, singer, songwriter, vocal coach, and musical theatre practitioner. For over a decade, I’ve been helping singers and choirs unlock their full potential through harmony, artistry, and performance.

My Qualifications as a Teacher:

  • 10+ Years of Choir Direction – I have directed church choirs for more than a decade, training singers of all levels to perform confidently in harmony and balance.

  • 9+ Years of Classroom Teaching – I taught music in schools for nearly a decade, where I developed methods to make music theory simple and practical for children, teens, and adults.

  • Professional Singer & Songwriter – I have written and recorded numerous songs, giving me real‑world experience in both live performance and studio recording that I bring into my lessons.

  • Musical Theatre Experience – My background in theatre equips me to teach stage presence, storytelling through song, and expressive performance.

  • Author & Resource Creator – I am currently writing “Choir Material for Church Choir”, a book designed to guide choir leaders and singers with practical tools and exercises.

Teaching Style

My teaching style is interactive, performance‑based, and student‑centered. I focus on helping singers build confidence through practical vocal exercises, harmony training, and expressive performance techniques. I simplify music theory so it’s easy to apply, and I encourage creativity through songwriting and musical theatre approaches. Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced singer, my lessons are designed to be engaging, supportive, and results‑driven.

Curriculum

Teaching Method:

My teaching method is interactive and student‑centered. I use demonstration and call‑and‑response to build confidence, step‑by‑step harmony training to strengthen vocal blend, and performance‑based learning drawn from my musical theatre background. I simplify music theory so it connects directly to singing and songwriting, and I adapt each lesson to the student’s level and goals in a supportive, encouraging environment.
