Oisín Ó Domhnaill
About
Hi, I’m Oisín! I’m a pianist and guitarist with nearly four years of teaching experience, working with students of all ages and levels.
I started learning both instruments at the age of 9 with a strong classical foundation, and went on to complete all my grades through RIAM and LIAM by the time I was 16. While classical music is my main focus, I enjoy playing and teaching a wide variety of styles — from pop and folk to contemporary and improvisation.
My teaching style is easygoing and fun, with a strong emphasis on music theory. I want my students to feel confident not just in playing what’s written, but also in creating their own music, experimenting, and developing their own musical voice.
In our lessons, you can expect a bit of everything — warmups, working through pieces, technique, theory, and playing together when possible. I provide sheet music and notes, and we always start each session by talking through your goals and what you'd like to get out of the lesson.
Whether you're picking up an instrument for the first time or returning to it after a break, I’d love to help you along the way.
Teaching Style
My teaching style is relaxed, fun, and student-focused, with a strong emphasis on theory to help you build real independence as a musician. I adapt each lesson to your goals, whether you're aiming for exams, learning your favourite songs, or writing your own music. We’ll mix practical work with music theory, and I’ll always provide clear notes, sheet music, and support along the way.
Curriculum
I use a flexible mix of sheet music, chord charts, tabs, and ear training, depending on each student’s goals and learning style. Lessons include warm-ups, technique work, and creative tasks like improvisation or composition. I provide all necessary materials, including sheet music and personalised notes. For structured progress, I often recommend RIAM books for classical students, and graded method books or lead sheet resources for guitar, depending on age and level.
