Pedro Paiva

Hello dear future student! My Name is Pedro and I am a a guitar teacher based in Porto Alegre, southern Brazil but I teach mostly online. I have been teaching guitar since 2008 and in the  year of 2015 I acquired my bachelors degree in Music/Classical Guitar in what is considered one of the best federal universities in  Brazil (UFRGS, class of 2015). Being Brazilian, I have familiarity with a wide range of artists from different moments of our broad musical history. Throughout the years I have also made many guitar arrangements for Brazilian songs as well as famous film musical themes, Disney themes, video game themes, and instrumental version to be played on the guitar of famous pop and rock songs like "we are the champions- Queen" among others. I started my musical journey playing electric guitar at the age of twelve, but soon after a switched to acoustic guitar, focusing in fingerstyle technique, but never stopped playing electric as well. Ive playen in a few bands as well as some instrumental groups, among them a guitar/mandolin duo, a Hungarian Gypsy group with Guitar, accordion, bass, violin and voice. An contemporary ensemble called Incomum (translates to Uncommon) with a variety of instruments.

I focus my teachings in what my student is interested in, but I always try to accompany whatever we are seeing in class with music theory and always considering music as a language that can be learned to be spoken and written.
