About

Prisca Dávila, Venezuelan pianist, singer and composer, is recognized for her particular musical language, based on the fusion of melodies and genres of the traditional music of her country, with the technique, dynamics and nuances of classical music and contemporary harmony and jazz improvisation.

Her first album “Piano Jazz Venezolano” in 2003 marked the beginning of her professional career, and today, with eight albums recorded, Prisca is one of the most prominent pianists in Venezuela. In every place where she presents her music, she is a source of admiration for her pianistic skill, creative capacity and refined quality of her interpretations and compositions.

She has presented his Venezuelan “jazzed” music in important concerts and festivals both in Venezuela and in other countries such as Korea, Brazil, Dominican Republic, Holland, Spain, Czech Republic, France, Great Britain, Mexico, United States, Trinidad, Canada, Italy and Puerto Rico. Among some festivals that have successfully carried out their work are: LulaWorld in Canada (2018), XVIII Edition Festival Culturamérica (2010) in France, Ellas Crean (2009) in Madrid, Música Do Pan (2007) in Rio de Janeiro, Casa of Teatro Jazz Festival in Santo Domingo (2007) and World Culture Open (2004 in Seoul.

Teaching Style

Prisca Dávila's music teaching method is the result of more than 25 years of musical studies, research, teaching experience, and the production of albums, concerts, and tours. The method comprises four essential and complementary modules:

* Music Reading: provides the necessary tools to learn to read sheet music.

* Piano: is based on the curriculum of conservatories, developing technical skills and interpretive ability in the repertoire of different periods of classical music.

* Contemporary Harmony: offers students theoretical and practical knowledge to interpret jazz and popular music pieces.

* Improvisation: allows the development of instant musical creativity, overcoming obstacles and encouraging improvisation and composition.

* Composition: develops various techniques to achieve the creation of musical pieces, based on the combination of harmony, melody, rhythm, and the study of different musical forms.

Curriculum

Classes are open to all ages, and no prior musical knowledge is required. It is also aimed at pianists and other instrumentalists interested in contemporary harmony applied to the piano and improvisation. Prisca offers personalized support, combining subjects and adapting to the student's interests and level at three levels: beginner, intermediate, and advanced.

Recommended Students Text:  In order to have the ability to play different musical styles with different levels of difficulty, it takes technique. I can recommend different books and exercises like hannon, Czerny, scales, arpeggios, triads, etc. Also for improve piano improvisation practice with Backing track (no piano), real book, etc.

"I love sharing my musical knowledge, helping develop my students' artistic potential, and, most importantly, motivating their passion for music."

“To play the piano you need to connect your mind with your fingers, your body, and your soul.” Prisca Dávila
