About
Over the past 8 years, I’ve had the privilege of working as a music educator across diverse educational settings, from international schools to colleges. I specialize in vocal training with a strong foundation in Indian classical music, supported by my academic background — a Bachelor's and Master's in Music from Visva-Bharati University, Santiniketan, along with a B.Ed.
My professional journey includes roles such as:
Music Teacher at IRIS International School (2017–2019)
Music Coordinator at DRS International School (2019–2021)
Senior Teaching Facilitator at Ganges Valley School (2021–2025)
These experiences helped me work with students across various age groups and cultural backgrounds. I’ve developed and implemented music curricula aligned with international standards, conducted school performances, and organized inter-school events that encouraged student participation and creativity.
A significant achievement for me has been mentoring more than 50 students — individually and in groups — many of whom have gone on to perform confidently on stage and pursue music further. I take pride in my student-centered and adaptive teaching style, blending classical techniques with modern approaches like ear training, voice warm-ups, and breathing exercises.
What sets my work apart is the belief that music is more than just a subject — it’s a tool for emotional expression, confidence-building, and healing. My goal is always to nurture a lifelong love and understanding of music in every student I teach.
Teaching Style
My teaching style is student-centered, encouraging, and adaptable. I believe every student learns differently, so I tailor my lessons to suit individual learning needs and pace. Whether I'm working with beginners or more advanced learners, I focus on creating a supportive and inspiring environment where students feel confident to explore and grow.
I combine traditional Indian classical methods with modern vocal techniques. My sessions typically include vocal warm-ups, breathing exercises, pitch control, ear training, and posture correction, all aimed at building a strong foundation. I also incorporate basic music theory to help students develop a deeper understanding of what they’re singing.
Creativity, discipline, and emotional expression are key elements of my teaching. I strive to make each class meaningful, engaging, and enjoyable—so students not only develop their skills but also build a lifelong connection with music.
Curriculum
My teaching method is a balanced blend of traditional Indian classical techniques and contemporary vocal training practices. I focus on building a strong foundation in voice culture through breath control, posture, pitch accuracy, and tonal clarity. Each lesson is structured yet flexible, allowing room for creativity and individual growth.
I begin with basic vocal warm-ups, breathing exercises, and ear training, followed by structured practice in ragas, alankars (vocal patterns), and compositions. For younger or beginner students, I often include interactive activities to keep learning engaging and fun. I also emphasize performance preparation, helping students develop stage presence and confidence.
Recommended Student Texts:
Depending on the student’s age and level, I recommend the following:
"Sangeet Ratnakar" by Sharangdev – for advanced students seeking theoretical depth
"Abhinav Geetanjali" by Vishnu Digambar Paluskar – for foundational classical training
"Elementary Theory of Music" (ABRSM) – for those interested in Western notation basics
as well as custom worksheets, notation charts, and audio practice files – tailored by me for individual student needs
I also supplement lessons with listening assignments, encouraging students to explore various genres, styles, and legendary artists to develop musical sensitivity and appreciation.
