About

Hi there!
I'm a dedicated music teacher with several years of experience helping students of all ages discover their confidence and creativity through music. I teach piano, guitar, violin, ukulele, and drums, and I genuinely enjoy watching each student grow from their very first notes to performing complete pieces with ease.

Music has been a major part of my life for as long as I can remember, and teaching it has become one of the most rewarding parts of my journey. Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of working with students from different backgrounds, age groups, and skill levels, helping them build a strong foundation while discovering the joy of making music. Whether it’s guiding a beginner through their first melody or supporting an advanced student through challenging pieces, I approach every lesson with patience, clarity, and genuine enthusiasm.

Teaching Style

My teaching style is supportive, flexible, and tailored to the individual. I don’t believe in a one-size-fits-all method — every student learns differently, and I make sure our lessons reflect their goals, strengths, and preferred learning pace. Whether you want to play your favorite songs, build a strong technical foundation, prepare for performances, or simply enjoy a relaxing musical hobby, I’ll guide you step by step.

Curriculum

In lessons, I focus on:

  • Building strong technique through simple, clear exercises

  • Helping students understand what they’re playing instead of just memorizing

  • Encouraging creativity through small improvisation and ear-training activities

  • Developing confident rhythm skills for students learning drums or guitar

  • Offering structured, achievable goals so progress feels consistent and motivating

Most of all, I aim to create a comfortable environment where students feel safe to explore, ask questions, make mistakes, and enjoy the process. Music should feel fun and rewarding — never stressful.

Credentials & Affiliations

Education/training

I hold a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Music with a specialisation in Indian Classical Music from Indira Kala Sangeet Vishwavidyalaya, completed between 2018 and 2021. This formal degree provided me with in-depth training in music theory, performance practice, raga studies, rhythm (tala), and structured musicianship, strengthening both my academic and practical understanding of music.

Alongside my degree, I have pursued internationally recognised Western music qualifications. I completed Grade 5 in Piano from ABRSM in 2021, which involved structured assessment in performance, technical proficiency, sight-reading, and musicianship skills. I also completed Grade 5 Music Theory with ABRSM, reinforcing my knowledge of notation, harmony, and analytical listening.

Earlier in my training, I completed Grade 2 Piano certification from Trinity College of Music between 2017 and 2019, focusing on foundational keyboard technique, repertoire development, and performance accuracy. These graded examinations supported my progression as a pianist and strengthened my ability to teach structured instrumental lessons.

In addition to my music education, I have also completed a Bachelor’s degree in Science with a specialisation in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics (PCM). This academic background has contributed to my analytical approach to teaching, lesson planning, and structured skill development.

Professional experience

My professional experience is closely integrated with my teaching work across schools and institutions, where performance forms an essential part of curriculum delivery. I have been actively involved in preparing and supporting student performances for school events, assemblies, cultural programs, and music showcases, contributing musically as well as guiding rehearsals and performance readiness.

My experience across piano, keyboard, and vocal-based music allows me to adapt to different performance and instructional contexts, both in-person and online.

Teaching Experience

I am currently working as a Secondary Music Teacher at GEMS Cambridge Private International School, Sharjah (August 2024 – present), where I teach Western Music across the secondary curriculum. My role includes classroom instruction, practical music training, ensemble work, assessment planning, and supporting students in performance preparation and skill development aligned with international curriculum standards.

Previously, I worked as a Western Music Teacher at JSS Private School (Al Safa), Dubai (March 2023 – August 2024), teaching instrumental and vocal music, music theory, and performance skills. I was responsible for lesson planning, student assessments, practical examinations, and preparing students for school events and performances. I also taught Western Music at The Apple International School, Senior Secondary Section, Dubai (September 2022 – February 2023), focusing on foundational musicianship, theory integration, and practical performance skills.

I have also taught at International Indian School (IIS), Baniyas West, Abu Dhabi, where I contributed to the school’s music education program through structured classroom teaching and practical sessions. In addition, I worked for approximately 1.5 years as a Western Music Teacher with Private International English School (PIES), Abu Dhabi (May 2021 – September 2022), delivering online music lessons to international students. This role strengthened my experience in online teaching methodologies, digital lesson planning, and remote student engagement.

Earlier in my career, I gained two years of teaching experience at Graphic Era University and Graphic Era Global School (May 2019 – May 2021), where I worked as a Piano Teacher and Music Teacher. My responsibilities included individual and group piano instruction, classroom music teaching, and student performance preparation. I also worked as a Music Teacher at The Aryan School (Day cum Residential), Dehradun (April 2018 – April 2019), teaching students across different age groups and supporting school music activities.

Alongside full-time teaching roles, I have worked part-time at Rock Music School, Dehradun, as a Keyboardist and Piano Teacher, providing focused instrumental instruction. Additionally, I served as a Music Teacher at Lovedale Academy, Dehradun (October 2017 – December 2018), where I began developing my structured approach to classroom music education and student-centered teaching.
