About

I am a professional musician. I have 38 years of experience in teaching, recording, and performing live. My area of expertise is the guitar. I have a wide range of familiarity in many genres including Rock, Jazz, Classical, and Country.

I have taught all ages and levels of ability for over 3 decades.

I have a strong background in music theory and can assist students with understanding that topic as well as reading music and playing by ear.

I also teach other fretted instruments such as ukulele, banjo, mandolin, and bass.

I play with a variety of bands, covering a wide range of genres, in addition to the private lessons I offer. I have extensive experience touring the US and abroad in Europe.

I have worked regularly with with international artist Puddles Pity Party as well as being hired as guitar coach for an upcoming NBC Peacock show called Hysteria.

I have a bachelor's degree in music performance from the University of North Carolina at Asheville.

Teaching Style

My teaching style is geared toward finding out what works best for each individual to bring out their abilities and talents.

I do not follow a one-size-fits-all approach with students as each individual has their own unique interests and motivation.

I feel strongly that anyone who has the desire to learn an instrument can be successful as long as they put in the time, in addition to being patient and persistent.

I like to offer positive feedback while finding areas to improve upon.

Curriculum

As stated above I do not follow one method for every single individual student. I have several different methods and approaches that I've learned over the years to bring out the best in each student.

I feel strongly that being well-rounded on your instrument is important. As an example, that means learning to play by ear and to read music.

I feel it is my job to equip students with the necessary skills so that they can grow on their instrument and gain confidence. All while making the learning experience as fun and rewarding as possible.
