Rodrigo Caro Langwagen
About
Hi! My name is Rodrigo. I am an Uruguayan composer, producer, and teacher living in Buenos Aires, Argentina. I've been working for the past 15 years as a composer for media such as TV, video games, and movies. I love to teach and have been doing so since I was 20 years old. Among my students, you can find professional keyboardists, singers who want to learn how to play piano accompaniments, or people who just want to have fun and play their favorite tunes!
Teaching Style
Since students can have very different approaches to music, I always talk with them and define a lesson plan together. Some want to play their favorite songs by reading sheet music, others want to learn to read chord notation to be able to play accompaniments or create their own piano arrangements, and some want to dive into music theory to be able to improvise and compose their own music. I'm here to help you achieve your goals! I also teach music production, including MIDI and synth programming.
Credentials & Affiliations
I'm a professional musician and a 2008 graduate of EMBA (Buenos Aires Music School). During my time there, I was the lead pianist in the tango orchestra and had the opportunity to attend masterclasses with renowned artists like Chucho Valdés, Egberto Gismonti, and Victor Wooten, among others.
As a composer affiliated with SADAIC (Argentina's composers association), I have written music for two national TV shows in Argentina: Dueños de la Cocina (a MasterChef-style reality show) and the local version of Kitchen Nightmares (yes, the Gordon Ramsay show, but with a local chef). Both were featured on Discovery Home and Health. I have also fully produced music for local TV ads, movie trailers, and video games such as Nubarron: The Adventure of an Unlucky Gnome.
I have been teaching since 2005. I was a high school music teacher for ten years (Philips Highschool, 2005–2015) and have been providing private piano lessons since 2005. My students range from professional musicians and music producers to singers who want to learn how to play accompaniments, as well as individuals who just want to have fun!
