Ryan O'Connell

I'm a pianist and music director for Disneyland! I've been working full-time in music for 15+ years and I've worked in just about every style you can think of: pop, musical theatre, classical, jazz, and many more. I've worked on more than 100 live music productions: Broadway, Off-Broadway, cruise ships, theme parks, pop, classical, film, media, and many more. I've worked on music teams and written/arranged music for: Michael Bublé, Megan Hilty, Kelli O'Hara, Sutton Foster, Marc Shaiman, Teri Hatcher, Randy Rainbow, and more. I've written music for Fox, CBS, NBC, Netflix, Nickelodeon, and The Walt Disney Company (hear my music at Oga's Cantina in the parks!).

I have been doing high-profile orchestral mockups for over a decade, and I've worked with some of the greats to help them realize their musical visions. I've orchestrated full musicals at top-level theaters all over the country including Goodspeed, Signature Theater, and others. I've done professional Mainstage programming and I'm an expert in Logic Pro, Pro Tools, and Sibelius. I like to keep one foot in the theater world and one food in the film/tv world, and I stay BUSY in this industry. I can help you do the same.

I graduated from the Jacobs School of Music at Indiana University, and did my graduate work in film scoring at USC. I've taught lots of private students over the years, many of whom now have thriving careers in music.

My specialties include: playing lead sheets, learning top pop songs, solo piano gigs, reading music, playing by ear, plunking out vocal lines. I like to incorporate lots of elements (music theory, songwriting techniques, etc.) to make you a well-rounded and in-demand musician. I've also coached hundreds of singers and helped lots of them nail their auditions and win the part.  I've helped them hone their piano skills in order to make them in demand in the performing arts by possessing skills to learn songs FAST.
