About
I am a classical violinist with 17 years of experience in the industry. I graduated with a Bachelor of Music from Vanderbilt University and a Master of Music from the Cleveland Institute of Music. I have studied with some of the most renowned teachers and pedagogues in the classical music industry and have attended prestigious summer festivals such as the Aspen Music Festival and School and the Sarasota Music Festival.
I am an orchestral musician and have played professionally with major symphony orchestras like the Nashville Symphony and recorded music for tv, film, and video games, such as Marvel's Spider-Man videogame, released in 2018. I have experience working with students of all ages, skill levels, and interests. Whether you are looking for a one-time lesson or a recurring teacher, I am here to help!
Teaching Style
I love music and my goal in teaching is to share this love and help my students achieve their personal goals. When it comes to teaching, I believe that a "one-size fits all" approach is detrimental to a student's success and enjoyment. I will work personally with my students to figure out what their priorities are, what they are interested in accomplishing, and what their favorite part about playing the violin is so that we can incorporate them all into lesson plans. No one student will receive the same kind of teaching.
For beginner/intermediate students, I will spend more time developing and strengthening basic technique so as to give them a good foundation from which they can build upon. We will do scales, etudes, and then pieces. Advanced students may spend less time on technique depending on their level of achievement. I will suggest repertoire that I think is appropriate for the skill level and the interest of the student.
I firmly believe in a positive and encouraging teaching style!
