About

Hi, my name is Sam and I like to play the drums! My main instrument is percussion, but I have learned many instruments during my time as a student and teacher. As a teacher I have taught percussion, band, choir, guitar, and music theory lessons.

I love to play music, but I also like to make music too! I can also teach lessons about music production, songwriting, and writing music notation.

Teaching Style

I have experience with different teaching styles, as I have taught students that are different ages and students that play different instruments. I like to create a different lesson plan for each student, and go with what works best!

Credentials & Affiliations

I hold a Bachelor's Degree in Music Education from Fresno Pacific University and an Associate's Degree in Music from the College of the Sequoias.

Throughout my studies, I had the opportunity to perform with the Sequoia Symphony and represent College of the Sequoias at prestigious events like the 2017 Central Valley Community College Honor Band. I placed 2nd in the 2017 COS Concerto Competition with a Marimba performance, and in 2018, I earned recognition in the Percussion Arts Society Central Valley Chapter Competition, securing 3rd place with the FPU Percussion Quartet and 5th place in Solo Marimba. Additionally, I was fortunate to perform at the 2019 Western Band Association Festival in Seattle with the Fresno Pacific University Symphonic Band.

With 5+ years of teaching experience at Dinuba and Cutler-Orosi Unified School Districts, I’ve worked with students in percussion, band, choir, guitar, and general music. My students have competed and excelled in Marching Band, Concert Band, and Winter Percussion, earning superior and excellence awards.
