Beyond teaching, Sarah-Beth records and releases music under her solo project Musalchemy, blending electronic, folk, and cinematic soundscapes. She previously fronted the alt-pop group Luunah, performing at Irish festivals with music featured on BBC, RTÉ, 2fm, REDfm, and Spin SW. She also shares insights on her YouTube channel about music theory, artistry, songwriting, and the healing benefits of sound.
Sarah-Beth believes music education goes beyond technique — it’s about unlocking creativity, overcoming limitations, developing effective practice habits, and above all, enjoying the process.
Teaching Style
My teaching style is warm, encouraging, and adaptive. I create a supportive, non-judgmental space where students feel safe to explore their creativity, take risks, and learn at their own pace. Lessons are always tailored to the individual—whether they thrive on structure or prefer a more playful, intuitive approach. I aim to build confidence alongside technical skill, helping students grow both musically and personally.
Mindset is central to musical development. I guide students not only in what to practice, but how to practice—sharing strategies for focus, choosing the best time of day to practice, and setting up an environment that supports concentration and flow.
I also see music as a powerful tool for well-being. By weaving in mindfulness, visualisation, and flow-state practices, I help students connect more deeply with their music while supporting emotional balance and self-growth.
Creativity is at the heart of my approach. I often assign imaginative tasks—such as writing short pieces, exploring scales in playful patterns, or creating melodies from specific chord extensions. These activities reinforce theory and technique while keeping lessons engaging, expressive, and inspiring.
Curriculum
I don’t follow one strict method; instead, I draw from contemporary, classical, and traditional approaches, adapting them to each student’s goals, level, and learning style. My focus is on developing well-rounded musicianship—ear training, theory, rhythm, harmony, improvisation, sight reading, and creative exploration—while encouraging students to see music as both a technical and expressive art.
Lessons may include guided composition, songwriting, and visualisation techniques to strengthen creativity and self-expression. I work closely with students (and parents for younger learners) to support individual aims, whether that’s exams, writing original songs, improving technique, or playing for enjoyment.
Technology Integration
I use Chordio, an interactive tool that lights up my piano keys in real time, offering a clear visual aid for beginners and visual learners.
