Sarah Maxwell Neipp
About
I have both a bachelor's and master's degree in Vocal Performance. While I initially studied and performed operatically, I was also drawn to performing in the musical theatre genre. Since then I have completed courses in the mechanics of mix and belt and voice function. I currently teach as an Adjunct Professor of Commercial Voice at Utah Valley University and enjoys singers in all genres! I enjoy it all--arias, art song, working with singer-songwriters, musical theatre, I love the variety the voice offers!
Teaching Style
I love helping singers find their unique sound. I believe that singing is a reflex from birth, and bringing us back to that reflex is a beautiful and healing journey.
My approach is to expand the usable sounds you can then integrate where you want them and to keep you connected to the reasons you are drawn to singing in the first place. Technique is valuable, and I approach it in the context of the artistry that compels both the creator, performer, and audience.
Curriculum
My teaching method pulls on both modeling sound, explaining evidence-based practices, and providing plenty of time for the exploration of the singer. Repertoire is particular to the student.
