About

Sarah Spillers is an interdisciplinary visual artist living in Johnson City, Tennessee, while she pursues her Master of Fine Arts degree at East Tennessee State University. Spillers’ artistic practice uses sculptural exploration, painting, and printmaking to examine American consumerism, marketing practices, and mass production. Her work reimagines common snack packaging, such as chip bags, into printed multiples and large-scale inflatable sculptures, inviting viewers to contemplate the value, appeal, and fleeting satisfaction they offer. Spillers has been awarded Nashville’s Best Visual Artist from the Nashville Scene (2022 & 2023) and the Influential Educator award from the Clarksville-Montgomery County School System (2023, 2024). Her work can be found in the Austin Peay State University Permanent Collection and East Tennessee State University’s President’s Collection. Spillers’ exploration of the intersections of art, consumer culture, and human behavior drives her evolving practice.
