About
About Me
I'm a professional guitarist, performer, and teacher with a background rooted in classical and flamenco technique, combined with a deep love for improvisation, expression, and musical storytelling. I studied at the Oberlin Conservatory and the Cleveland Institute of Music, and have spent years performing across a wide range of styles including flamenco, Afro-Cuban, Brazilian, jazz, and Turkish music.
Beyond performing, teaching has become a central part of my work. I've worked with students from all levels - from complete beginners to more advanced players looking to refine technique, tone, and musical identity.
What You Can Expect
You can expect a focused but relaxed learning environment where progress is steady and meaningful. I aim to give you practical tools you can immediately apply, while also helping you build long-term skill and confidence.
At the end of the day, music should feel good. My goal is to help you not only become a better guitar, but to genuinely enjoy the process of playing.
Teaching Style
My Approach
My teaching style is highly personalized. Each student has their own goals, learning style, and musical taste. My goal is to meet you where you are and help you progress efficiently.
I play and teach on nylon classical/flamenco, steel string acoustic, and electric guitar. I share my knowledge in effects pedals and processors, recording and performing equipment, as well as other tone shaping tools.
Lessons can be structured and goal-oriented or more exploratory and creative, depending on what you're looking for. Whether you want to learn specific pieces, improve your improvisation, or develop a deeper connection to the instrument, I'll help guide you in a clear and supportive way.
Curriculum
My teaching method combines traditional technique, ear training, and practical musical application. I focus on helping students build a strong technical foundation while developing their ear, creativity, and personal musical voice.
I adapt materials based on each students goals rather than following a rigid curriculum. That said, I draw from a range of trusted methods and resources when helpful.
Recommended beginner methods: Hal Leonard and Alfred's publications. For nylon/classical enthusiasts: Pumping Nylon, Christopher Parkening methods. For reading and fretboard knowledge: A Modern Method for Guitar.
For flamenco, improvisation, original compositions, or contemporary styles, I often use personalized material and rel musical examples rather than relying heavily on standard textbooks.
