Teaching Style
I believe the student's own musical interests should come first. I start out by making sure fundamental skills are solid and that there is room to go upwards in terms of pieces that offer a good challenge, and as soon as the student has a working set of musical skills I encourage them to bring me anything and everything they would enjoy learning. For the first four years of my clarinet journey I was entirely self taught, and this style of exploration was part of how I found my passion for playing music. I want to offer my students the same kind of positive experiences that got me started.

Studying under Jose Franch-Ballester
As a dedicated university student pursuing a degree in clarinet performance, I am passionate about both performing and teaching. My journey with music began at a young age, and I have been fortunate to be able to transform this passion into a career.
Currently, I am studying music at the University of British Columbia where I am honing my skills as a clarinetist and musician. My coursework and performance experiences have provided me with a solid foundation in both classical and jazz music. This enables me to perform confidently in various settings, from solo recitals to ensemble performances.
In my time studying music I have participated in various music competitions throughout Vancouver. Some accolades I have received include multiple 1st Place awards in the Kiwanis Music Festival, multiple Platinum awards in the Vaya International Competition, and Class Winner in the Senior Woodwinds Category in the White Rock Music Festival. These have helped me further my performance skills and develop confidence while playing.
