Steve Uffman
About
My name is Steve Uffman, I am a life long learner, with a passion for music and 20 years of experience. I am committed to guiding students toward their goals, and helping them thrive in the world of music.
Teaching Style
My teaching style is centered on assisting students toward their goals in music by listening to their needs. Every student is unique and they all have different goals, needs, and skill levels. The main thing is to keep the lessons fun, with personalized lessons and solid direction.
Curriculum
My teaching method is centered around the idea of repetition. Repeat the part over and over until you get it, slow it down to a snails pace if you have to. Try the same part in different ways, play it while watching a show, play the part in a band. Repetition is the key to success.
Credentials & Affiliations
I joined the Barbershop Harmony Society with Central Standard Chorus (2014-2016). I competed in local and international competitions ultimately wining a third place medal in the international competition. We sang in numerous local venues in the Kansas City area. My most memorable ones were the National Anthem at Kauffman Stadium and the Sing Off tour at the Midland.
I worked as a vocal substitute teacher at the Music House (2017-2019). I worked at the School of Rock teaching lessons as well as group classes, I was the camp director responsible for various different themed Rock Camps (2019-2022.) I worked at Ernie Williamson Music consistently teaching first time players (2022-2025).
I now run the Youth Rock Band program at the Turner Recreation Commission in Kansas City, Kansas (2025-Present). This program is centered around helping students find performance opportunities in music. They gain all the skills necessary to do this, playing in a group, setting up and breaking down equipment, learning stage etiquette and performance skills.
